Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4)

123

In Antigua and Barbuda 27-30 May, the international community will gather to review SIDS’ sustainable development progress and propose a new decade of partnerships and solutions to supercharge their path to resilient prosperity. Global lockdowns left large holes in islands’ coffers and severely set back efforts to invest in the Sustainable Development Goals. Meanwhile, climate action is becoming increasingly urgent, as weather-related disasters have doubled in two decades: with island nations both most vulnerable and least responsible.

SIDS4 will aim to “agree on a new programme of action for SIDS with a focus on practical and impactful solutions and to forge new partnerships and cooperation at all levels”. Participants will discuss concrete, measurable targets to support SIDS in achieving their sustainable development objectives over the next ten years.
